David Besozzi has explored 113 Japanese, Chinese, and Korean gardens during his journey to experience the rich diversity of Asian-inspired landscapes across North America. In this seminar, he will highlight notable Japanese and Chinese gardens within reach of the Capital District region in Albany, NY. Drawing from his blog and personal experiences, David will share stunning images, practical details, and travel tips for visiting these beautiful gardens.

 

Building a Zen Garden: Design & Elements 

This presentation focuses on the design and elements that comprise Songni Yuan, David Besozzi's Japanese style garden. Through the use of photos from Dave's garden, examples of how to use stone, water, plantings, and ornaments to replicate a Japanese esthetic will be shared. This presentation is suited for gardeners and those people interested in adding Japanese design to the landscape project.


Japanese Gardens: Design, Elements, and Influences
This presentation compares Japanese garden design, elements, and influences with the features of Dave's garden, Songni Yuan. Emphasis will be placed on examples of features related to stone, water, plantings, and ornamentation that are found within gardens throughout Japan and North America. This presentation is well suited for adults and young people alike, who are unfamiliar with Japanese gardens.
