Whispers of Spring

During the first two weeks of May, there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the early blossoms that characterize the viewing and stroll gardens.

The First Flame Maple starts with a burst of bright red.

An early appearance by a tree frog, taking in the sights, as he rests near the base of a fence rail.

The Crabapple tree lets loose its blossoms, adding pinkish-purple to the scene (and hints at the need for some pruning).

By the second week, the First Flame begins its slow change to orange, before eventually turning green as summer arrives.

Yet for now, the colors dominate this part of the garden, awakening us all to spring's arrival.
